I have noticed that my instance of Mikrotik’s free monitoring tool, The dude, started behaving oddly recently. The service would crash every few minutes and would some times become slow to respond.
So I decided to reinstall it (Version 4.0-beta-3) and restore the configuration from backup that I had. But to my dismay the import feature just seem to import the backup file forever.
I am not sure what the issue is, but luckily the backup tar archive is just a copy of the data folder and db file inside the Dude install directory.
So to fix this issue, you can use a Linux machine or something like Winrar to open the backup archive and extract the information. (You do have backups right?).
In the archive there should be a dude.db file and a data folder. Extract these and replace the files and folders in The Dude’s install directory. The service should now work again as it should.
